Eventhough Kochi is hosting several exhibitions and trade fairs throughout the year; it lacks a permanent venue and infrastructure for the same. Many of the events are conducted in temporary erected structures in which fire risk and unsafe conditions of structure cannot be ruled out. Creation and dismantling of the required infrastructure are resulting in unnecessary expenditure and wastage of time. Also it will attract major fairs and conventions at the international level

SITE FEATURES
? The proposed site is located at Kaloor, on the southern side of the Kaloor-Palarivattom Road, close to the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium.

DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY
? The plot decided to set up exhibition cum convention centre is the open space available in front of the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium, without hampering the functioning of the stadium.
? Also the aesthetics of the stadium is taken care of.
? The structure will be energy efficient to the extent possible and will be equipped with proper system to enhance the safety and security.

PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS
? The shape of the proposed exhibition cum convention centre is derived from a triaxial ellipsoid which minimises the obstruction of the stadium behind from all angles. Also it gives the effect of a good volume with minimum surface area. So the proposed centre will exist in total harmony with the stadium.
? Foot print of the building spread across 150000 sq ft.
? The central hall which is the focal area of the centre measures 80000 sq ft. with sliding & folding partitions and another20000 sqft is set apart for spillover.
? Toilet blocks, security, medical assistance etc. take up 18000 sqft and remaining 20000 sqft will be used for common amenities.
? Ample parking facility will be provided through surface / basement/ mechanized car parks.
? A main entrance gate in harmony with the facilities inside will be provided from Kaloor- Palarivattom road.

• Kochi city can have a world class Exhibition cum convention centre housing various features like spacious and flexible hall, Information booth, VIP lounge, Food court, Internet Kiosk, ATM etc. The proposed Metro Rail Station near to the compound will be a crowning glory of it all.
